Immigration experiences: Care work and barriers

Tuesday, November 7th
1:30 – 2:20 p.m.

Like many western countries, Canada relies on female migrant and newcomer workers to fill labour shortages in the care provider workforce. Despite the vital role they play in our healthcare system, these care providers are not adequately supported through our immigration and workplace policies. This panel will delve into personal migration and immigration experiences, examine the immigration systems most used by care workers, explore the vulnerabilities of workers using those programs, and look to policy solutions to improve these experiences.
