Tyler Downey is the President of SEIU Healthcare Canada, which is a union representing nearly 70,000 frontline healthcare workers in Ontario. For nearly 20 years, he has championed the rights of caregivers, most of whom are women, racialized, and newcomers through advocacy, workforce innovation, and inclusive leadership.

He also leads the SEIU Healthcare Training Centre and serves as Board Chair of the My65+ retirement plan. Tyler has been instrumental in creating pathways for internationally educated nurses and pushing for equity and anti-racism in the labour movement. At the heart of his work is a deep respect for caregivers and the essential role they play in shaping a stronger, more compassionate healthcare system.
