Headshot of Tracy Slaney

Tracy Slaney is a mom, spouse, fisheries officer and caregiver from a small rural community in Newfoundland.

Her caregiving journey began when she supported both of her parents, and continues today as she cares for her spouse, who is now in his fifth year of treatment for stage 4 colorectal cancer. Having gone through 180 rounds of chemotherapy, he has faced each challenge with strength and resilience. For Tracy, the words “cancer” and “dementia” remain heavy reminders of what her family has lived through. Yet through these experiences, she has found renewed purpose as a caregiving advocate, using her story to raise awareness and push for better recognition and support for caregivers. Hope fuels her courage to keep moving forward.
