Stephanie-Muskat

Stephanie became a primary caregiver to her mom when she was just 19 years old and cared concurrently for her grandmother at the age of 23. For 16 years, Stephanie provided care both near and far and engaged in tremendous advocacy within the healthcare system until her mom’s passing in March 2025. Stephanie was a sandwich caregiver for almost 8 years and understands the impact of young caregiving and sandwich caregiving firsthand.

Stephanie’s caregiving experiences and the gaps she experienced from a mental health and emotional perspective led her to her professional career and the start of her mental health practice, Compassion in Caregiving. She is an award-winning registered social worker and psychotherapist and has additionally worked in acute care and mental health research at several major hospitals for over a decade.

Stephanie has been featured on numerous television networks and radio stations (including CTV, CP24, and Rogers Television) and has presented at numerous universities and public events to raise awareness about mental health and mental health support. She is additionally the creator and host of the popular podcast, Caregiver’s Compass.

Stephanie sits on several committees and advocacy groups aimed at raising awareness and change for caregivers, including Caregivers CAN (Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence).

Stephanie resides in Toronto, Ontario with her husband and three little girls.
