Rebekah-Norman

Rebekah Norman is a young adult carer supporting her parents (who are also carers): her father who lives with a rare schizoaffective condition and is recovering from addictions, and her mother who lives with mental health challenges and chronic illness. Rebekah is a research coordinator at the Young Caregivers Association and the co-founder and National Council Lead of the Young Caregiver Council of Canada, a grassroots advocacy group of young carers across Canada. Rebekah is a PhD candidate in the Department of Child and Youth Studies at Brock University. Her research centres around supporting young carers and their families, with an increased focus on critical theory, multimedia storytelling, mental health, disability, and care. Her background is in participatory and arts-based methods of collaboration with young carers, including research exploring the relationship between leisure and care.
