Merri-Lee Hanson is a social worker, civil servant, educator, and caregiver who strives through her work to align service delivery design to person-centered care.  With over 20 years as a public servant, she has a strong commitment to advancing initiatives within the Department of Social Development in the province of New Brunswick with a particular focus on older adults.  She is involved in designing and implementing programs at the department that improve the long term care program and increase supports available to caregivers. She has a passion for human-centered design where understanding of individual’s lives, pain points, and motivations act as a primary driver of solutions, innovation, and planning of services.

Merri-Lee is also a part-time professor at the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University where she enjoys teaching existing and emerging helping professionals of the value of collaborative working relationships between individuals, communities, and wider government. Merri-Lee is a caregiver for her aging parents which has provided lived experience and insight into the perspective and journey of so many others in the province of New Brunswick.
