Dr. Karine Josée Igartua

Dr. Igartua is a psychiatrist and head of the Department of Psychiatry at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). She is currently serving her third term on the FMSQ Board of Directors. A psychiatrist in the psychiatric emergency department at the MUHC for over 20 years, she also provides emergency services in three remote regions.

Actively involved in the Federation, she served as a delegate for 14 years and was President of the Association des médecins psychiatres du Québec for eight years (2013-2021). As President of her association, Dr. Igartua has taken a stand on various social issues (cannabis, medical assistance in dying, youth mental health) and launched the AlphasConnectés movement.
