Headshot of Dr. Kunal Parikh

Dr. Kunal Parikh began his career as a physician at a tertiary care centre in India. He soon realized that technology could streamline healthcare delivery significantly. He pivoted to health-tech, becoming the first employee of an age-tech start-up and helping its digital training platform reach more than 12,000 family caregivers across North  America. Daily exposure to their invisible labour sparked a deeper calling to champion older adults, leading him to complete a Master’s in Aging & Health at Queen’s University, where he earned the Award of Excellence for his research.

For his graduate thesis, Kunal created “The Anatomy of the Ideal Caregiver Intervention,” a four-domain framework for well-rounded caregiver support. His TEDx talk, Did You Know You Are a Caregiver?, exposed caregivers’ self-identification gap and sparked a global dialogue on caregiver identity.

Kunal weaves social-justice perspectives of aging and caregiving into the Digital Health curriculum he teaches at Algonquin College, preparing future innovators to prioritize equity. As a senior systems analyst at The Ottawa Hospital, he amplifies caregiver and patient voices in digital solutions. A vocal advocate, he pushes for evidence-based supports that elevate caregivers, advance social justice, and make aging with dignity everyone’s reality.
