Breakout Session

Indigenous Care Collective Panel

November 3, 2025
2:10 pm – 3:10 pm

The Indigenous Caregiving Collective (ICC) is a community-led initiative that supports caregivers of children with neurodevelopmental differences through culturally grounded, relational approaches. Rooted in First Nations knowledge and kinship systems, the ICC creates safe spaces where caregivers can share experiences, strengthen support networks, and build confidence in navigating health, education, and social systems. This session highlights caregiver-led solutions that address barriers shaped by systemic racism, ableism, and limited access to culture. Participants will learn how the ICC blends ceremony, storytelling, and peer-to-peer learning with advocacy, training, and research partnerships to reimagine care. The ICC’s work centers caregivers as experts and leaders, advancing inclusive, culturally safe systems that honour the gifts of children and the strength of their families.
